Our Guiding Principle

"Something must be done to reduce the economic insecurity in the African-American community and specifically in African-American single parent households. Many of these families are economically and politically insecure and generally miseducated about how to gain access to resources that can enhance their lives (Source: IWWWE Organizing Document).

    Just in Time Grant

There are so many women at our school who are struggling just to stay in school.  They need so much.  Some of them just need more than one set of scrubs.”    This conversation with Sa Mut Angela Scott, started the Just in Time Program.
Just in Time provides small grants to women who are in school studying some aspect of healthcare but who can use a little help to make  ends meet.
The first grants of $240 awarded to ten women provided low income women with transportation assistance and the ability to purchase two sets of scrubs.  When interviewing the women, we found that scrubs were not needed by all.  Sometimes baby clothes were needed or public transportation was no available so assistance with gas was needed.  The PACF grant allows us to expand this program.  Our December awards were $300 and went to eleven  women at the  Health Careers Center at Mercer County Technical Schools.
